• Kate meets Deimos Kiriakis, who has been released from Greek Prison after a thirty year sentence for killing his secret girlfriend Helena, who happened to be Victor's fiancee, despite the fact that he was on his way to Salem at that time and was romancing both Caroline and Kimberly.

SalemDay Five began on Thursday, January 28, 2016.

• Salem mourns as Daniel Jonas is buried.
• Steve agrees to join Ava in her search to find their son.
• Hope and Rafe take Chase and Ciara to the Horton Cabin on Smith Island, but return to Salem only a few hours later.
• Andre staggers back through the Salem Tunnels and into the DiMera Mansion, then sneaks into Hope's house, where he is nearly discovered by Shawn Douglas.
• A devastated Eric stumbles to AA.
• Ava tries to charm Steve as they await a flight in Maui.
• Philip and Belle hookup.
• Steve reluctantly beds Ava to get the location of Kayla's captivity.

• Maggie reveals that Summer was the result of her "childhood" romance with a mystery ranch hand, who moved away long before she even knew that she was pregnant and that she believed that her baby was born dead.
• Yo Ling commits suicide.
• Abigail continues to hallucinate Ben's appearance at the DiMera Mansion.
• Brady and Jeannie Theresa attempt to celebrate their engagement with an unenthused family.
• Maggie grows weaker and weaker, collapsing at the Edge of the Square and then falling down the stairs at the Kiriakis Mansion.
• Chase makes bail.
• Deimos reveals that he has an antidote for Maggie's illness, which he trades for all of Victor's fortune.
• Fynn reveals that Maggie is likely paralyzed, though the antidote is helping.
• A furious Victor plots revenge against his brother, only to suffer a heart attack.

• ISA Director Pamela Van Damme arrives to save Steve from prison by "revealing" that he was on duty and that Ava was under investigation for extensive criminal activity.
• Ben arrives at the mansion and confronts Abigail DiMera.
• Maggie reveals to Summer that she knew her baby lived and opted for adoption since she felt that she had no life to offer her child as a disabled teen farmgirl.
• Jennifer's addiction intensifies and she throws herself at Eric.
• Abigail tricks Ben into thinking that they will be together, only to restrain him in the bed, douse him in lighter fluid, and then set him afire.
• Hope confesses to Caroline that she killed Stefano.
